Muriel Wood

Muriel has worked as a painter since leaving art school in the 1950s. She moved from London in the nineteen-eighties to a small cottage in Northamptonshire which she made into her studio in order to develop her painting and ideas. Muriel now lives in Worcester

Muriel has always been involved in politics and earlier in her career produced work for various left wing causes. The life of travellers and also the industrial areas of London have featured strongly in Muriel’s work. Most of the paintings on this website show her interest in how we perceive the world about us, often through the landscapes of Northamptonshire or in portraying other people. .
